This panel will discuss the business aspects of open source. First, the various types of businesses that people have created using open source software will be highlighted. The panelists will then discuss the role of governments, organizations and companies with regard to the topic, based on their own experiences.

Tony Wasserman, Carnegie Mellon University, United States
Anthony I. (Tony) Wasserman is a Professor of Software Management Practice at Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley, and the Executive Director of its Center for Open Source Investigation (COSI), focused on evaluation and adoption of open source software. He is on the Board of Directors of the Open Source Initiative (OSI) and the Board of Advisors of Open Source for America. Tomas Gustavsson, PrimeKey Solutions, Sweden
Tomas Gustavsson (M.Sc.) is the CTO of PrimeKey Solutions and a member of the board (http://www.primekey.se/). PrimeKey is the leading open source enterprise PKI company in the world, founder and commercial force behind successful open source projects like EJBCA and Signserver.
Tomas has been researching and implementing PKI systems since 1994, and he is project founder and developer of the open source enterprise PKI project EJBCA, contributor to numerous open source projects. Member of Oasis EKMI TC and member of the board of Open Source Sweden.
Before co-founding PrimeKey in 2002, Tomas worked in both research and the commercial sector. He has designed and deployed several PKI systems, such as large scale national and organizational deployments and EU ePassport infrastructures. A committed follower of open standards, Tomas works with organizations like Oasis, IETF and ISO.

Ilkka Lehtinen, Finnish Centre for Open Source Solutions, Finland
Ilkka Lehtinen is the executive director of the Finnish Centre for Open Source Solutions (COSS). COSS is a national development agency for open source business ecosystem in Finland in various industries and public sector. The members of COSS include more than 140 open source vendors, solution providers and public and private organizations deploying and using open source solutions and innovation models.
The objective of COSS is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Finland's software intensive industries, promote the growth and internationalization of open source businesses, and catalyze the development of the Finnish information society with the support of open source technologies and communities. Their main focus areas are public sector, mobile and embedded systems, enterprise solutions and schools.
